Shad

I bet you guys were wondering when I'd drop this one. Well, here it is: today's artist is Shad.

Coming straight out of the L-O, Shad has been making moves for a couple years now and recorded his first album, When This is Over, with money he received from coming in first place in the Rhythm of the Future music contest put on my 91.5 The Beat in Kitchener. If this weren't enough, Shad has an advantage over other MCs: he believes in his music. Every song is true to what he feels, and it really comes through in the tracks, you can tell that this isn't a man that's out to make a fast buck, but instead someone that wants to tell you what he's actually about.

Choosing a favorite track was hard, but I would have to go with "Outta Love". It's an honest portrayal of how he feels about women and his pleading them to think before dealing with the kind of guys that will mistreat them, and his frustration with them when they do. Plus, how can you front on lines like "If they treat you like a substitute teacher, it's probably cuz you have no class." All around a dope artist, one of my favorites. Be sure to check him out!
